I stayed there, but not for a couple of years. It is in a nice location, with plenty to do, see, buy and eat nearby.
The rooms are average size, in colors of turquoise, coral and beige.
The pool is nice and there is poolside dining.
It's a good place to stay.

We stayed there 5 years ago and was disappointed in the small room we had with a "partial" oceanview. Our view out of our lanai consisted of the next big high rise building next door. We could see a little of the beach if we stuck our head out far enough. The Shore Bird is excellent for breakfast buffet, reasonably priced with outstanding view of Diamond Head, all open air seating next to the beach. Last summer we stayed at the nearby Hilton Hawaiian Village, which is outstanding and beautiful. I would recommend staying there again anytime! You get what you pay for in Hawaii, and we paid the extra money for an oceanview room the second time we went, and it is worth it considering how expensive it all is anyway. You could end up with a view of the McDonalds across the street at the Outrigger, so be careful in the view you choose. Aloha!

The best thing about the Outrigger Waikiki is that is is right in the center of Waikiki beach, close to shopping, dinimg, bars, entertainment, etc. If that is important to you go for it.

Just want to say that I think the hotel Teri is referring to is actually the Outrigger Reef on the Beach, which is where the Shore Bird is located, and is at the western end of Waikiki. The Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach is more centrally located, and is between the Royal Hawaiian and the Moana. The location is great--the Royal Hawaiian shopping center is next door. Duke's Canoe Club restaurant which is popular is located there. On the 2nd floor is the Sunset Terrace, a moderately priced restaurant, which does have tables on the terrace and is a beautiful spot at sunset. The beach right there is said to be the best in Waikiki, and it is true in my opinion. I have never stayed there so can't comment on rooms, but I can say it is a great location.
