Route through the canyons
Message: Hi, my partner and I are finally making our trip of a life time from UK to see the GC, MV, Arches, Bryce and Zion etc. We have 12 days, flying in and out of Pheonix - we have a route planned - is this the best we can do?
Day 1 Pheonix - Williams, via Sedona etc
Day 2 Williams - GC
Day 3 GC - Monument Valley - arrive in evening
Day 4 MV for day
Day 5 Moab - arrive late afternoon
Day 6 Moab - Arches
Day 7 Moab - Canyonlands & Dead horse
Day 8 Torrey
Day 9 Zion via Bryce - see on route
Day 10 Zion
Day 11 Flagstaff
Day 12 Pheonix
What do you think? Is it worth seeing anything else while in MV area?
Will a regular car be ok, driving Moab to Torrey - Zion?
We are travelling first two weeks of May.
Thanks
Nicki

Hi Nicki,
Sounds like you've got a good route. Why the night in Flagstaff? How about Page, AZ instead and you can check out Lake Powell.
Day 8 in Torrey. You will pass right by Capitol Reef National Park. Please check it out!
From Torrey I hope you plan on taking Scenic Hwy 12 down to Bryce. This goes throught the Escalante-Grand Staircase National Monument and is so beautiful!!!
A regular car will be just fine in all the areas you mentioned. My son did this trip in his camaro a few years ago. All roads are paved and in good shape.
Check out this web site for more information on the area you are going to travel.

Stop and see SUnset Crater/Wupatki Nat Mon (they are next to each other, only one admission fee) outside of Flagstaff. Makes a nice break on the way to Lake Powell.
Be sure to pick up a National Parks Pass at your first park - will save you quite a bit on admissions

From Page to Phoenix is 275 miles and it's a pretty easy drive.
I second the idea of buying the National Park Pass.

The National Park Pass is good at all National Parks, National Monuments and National Historical Parks for 1 full year and only cost $50 and it gets covers everyone in the vehicle.
The Grand Canyon, Bryce and Zion entrance fees are $20 at each park. Arches and Lake Powell are each $10 so you will save $30.
Monument Valley is a Tribal Park and Dead Horse is a State Park and they won't be covered.
