Outrigger Reef or Outrigger Waikiki??
We have booked 4 nights in March at Outrigger Reef (because it was no cost to us), but we can upgrade to the Outrigger Waikiki for $49 a night. From what I've seen on the Outrigger web site, the OW is newer, but appears to be very close to the OR and they both are right on the beach. Any suggestions? Is OW any better than OR?

Hi again Cakelady!
We spent the first 2 nights of our honeymoon at the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach and LOVED it! I didn't see the Reef, but I from what I've heard OW is nicer. We had booked the cheapest category room (AAA City View for $209/night) and they upgraded us for free to an Ocean View. Out of the 4 hotels we stayed in on this trip, this view from the balcony was by far the best we had. The rooms were new, clean, and spacious, and the staff was incredibly friendly.
It was right on the beach, a great location in the middle of everything. And of course, it has Duke's Canoe Club, an awesome restaurant on the beach with a good breakfast buffet and nice dinner and bar menu. I highly recommend this hotel!

Both of these hotels are great, we've stayed at both of them, the Outrigger Waikiki this past February. It has been recently remodeled/renovated. It has the best quality beach of the two. The Reef is a little more laid back, but is right on the beach as well, but there are some serious rocks in the shallow water fronting the beach. It pays to wear some reef shoes if you go in here. We had an ocean front 1 bedroom suite at the OW and it was by far one of the best rooms we have ever had anywhere.

We got back Tuesday from 10 days in Honolulu at the Outrigger Waikiki. We loved the location, its beach and the partial ocean view room we had. We made the short walk over to the Reef often. The plus there was the super
quality and price)breakfast buffet. We liked this one even better than the one at Duke's in our own hotel. Stay at the Waikiki to be more comfortable, but leave yourself open for the other hotel for its amenities. We were very satisfied!

We stayed at the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach a couple of weeks ago (yes, I owe a Trip Report!) and we loved it also. My husband and I, as well as our kids, loved it for various reasons... it's close proximity to the International Marketplace (directly across the street), the pool that is just steps away from a great beach (the kids went back and forth all day), the wonderful breakfast buffet and dinners we had at Dukes', the friendliness of the staff, the "look" of the hotel and rooms (we had an oceanview). A great hotel and a great location. We were VERY happy with our stay!
