Hello everyone! I am attending a conference in Brooklyn (at the Marriott, near the Brooklyn Bridge), and was wondering what my options are for getting from the airport to Brooklyn. I'm sure I could take a taxi, shuttle, bus or subway, but I was just wondering if any of you nice people out there had any experience with this, and could give me some guidance as to the convenience and approximate cost of each. Thanks in advance for your help!

Taxi is best. Probably about a $30 cab fare. You could also take a car service for about $35. To be honest, I'm not sure if there's any kind of shuttle service there; I doubt that it's served by the reviled SuperShuttle.

Public transit is completely impractical as you'd actually have to change a few times to get to Brooklyn (and probably have to come all the way into Manhattan on an hour-plus long oddyssey on the subway to get there).

There are a few Brooklyn people on these boards, so hopefully one of them will be able to give you some advice on non-taxi options.

All public transportation options are a bit impractical unless money is a concern and you have 2 hours to spare, in which case, you could take the #32 bus from LGA to Roosevelt Station (about 30 minutes) and then catch the F train to Jay Street/Borough Hall station (probably about an hour ride). That will leave you 1 block away from the hotel. It's a straight shot with no transfers and will cost you a whopping $2.

If you have luggage and/or would not like to take 2 hours to get to your destination then a yellow cab is best. I used to live 4 blocks away from there and I would agree it will probably cost about $30-35 before tip. If you go that route, remember to only take a yellow cab from the line outside. Do not accept a ride from the guys who come inside and offer to take you for less.

It's the Q33 bus that goes from Roosevelt Station to LGA. You can probably do it in 90 minutes - according to the Transit Trip Planner. I haven't gone that way in a couple of years and I live close to the Marriott. But a taxi is much faster.....

nyccabfare.com or hopstop.com will estimate cab fare. It shoudl be around $30 and is the simplest thing to do. Avoid shared shuttles services that take people to their hotels. They take forever and are not reliable or comfortable. A car service like dial7.com charges about what a taxi would and the car might be a bit nicer but the taxis now are all required to have a/c. Just make sure you get an official yellow taxi from the taxi line with the dispatcher. Don't accept a ride from any of the touts who may approach you.

Agreed - from LGA to tht area of Brooklyn is one of those you can;t really get there from here. And if you have anything more that a small carry-on you will be left haulig luggage up and down several flights f stairs and along long passageways. Cab will take about one third the time - and IMHO the additional cost is well worth it.
