I would go to the Hilton Hawaiian Village. It is a wonderful resort, set on about 40 acres with 2 or 3 pools, beachfront property. Although some people have given the Ilikai a favorable review, I think Apple Vacations only rate it 3 apples and just walking around the property, the Ilikai does not come close to the Hilton!!! (Just my opinion)
Congradulations on your honeymoon, my husband and I will be celebrating our 31st wedding anniversary in September and of course we will be staying at the Hilton.

These two hotels remind me of Las Vegas they are so huge.
I'd go to the Kahala Mandarin Oriental because it's beautiful and away from (but close enough) to Waikiki. Alternatively, for a place on Waikiki Beach that is elegant, the Halekulani is considered the best hotel, followed closely by the Royal Hawaiian.
