NYC theater tickets in May?

My wife and I are planning on visiting NYC in May. How does one know what will be playing in the theaters in May? How does one buy tickets now for a peformance in May?

You can plan on all the hit shows still playing in May. There may be something new added - just watch the arts and leisure section of the Times (NYTimes.com) to see if there's anything that interests you. As for buying tickets - if the show is a hit you should get tickets ASAP and can easily do so through one of the on-line ticket services - or a broker if necessary. If you're willing to take a chance for one of the older shows you can wait til you get here and stand on line at TKTS for half price seats the day of the show.

It is a bit diffcult to know what shows will still be running in 4-5 months, but check out www.playbill.com. Hopefully all your questions might be answered.

I agree, all of the hit shows will definitely still be playing in May. I find www.Broadway.com to be the most helpful website.

May is a busy time for the theater in New York. So, if you want to see one of the popular ones (Hairspray, The Lion King, Mamma Mia), you're advised to get tickets now, especially for weekend performances.
