NYC - Gonzo or Back Forty for Sat nite?

Ready to toss a coin...We love food and wine. I'm considering these two after reading reviews. We will be in the Union Square are Sat nite (Parsons) and looking for someplace to eat. I realize Back Forty will be father away. No big deal.

Your thoughts?

Back Forty is fun. I have not been to Gonzo. On the same block as Back Forty is Barbone. You will need servations.
Well prepared Italian in a quiet setting.

Perbacco, small but tasty Italian dishes. Many people's favorite here La Lavagna

If you like Tapas-Bar Carrera on Second or Xunta on First are quite good but very differnet atmospheres. Xunta is a loud party.

Pylos for elegant but moderately priced Greek.

And if you are early try Supper, northern Italian on 2nd Street.

Gonzo has been getting relentlessly bad-mouthed in reviews for the past couple of years.

Thanks for your input. I'll save the rec's. What I found out right before I left for NYC is that the fashion show we attended that night was acutally mid town, not in the Union Square area. We changed our plans. But I'll be back to NYC in May and will check someof thes out. Thanks SO Much!
