My votes go to Second Avenue and Carnegie (though neither Carnegie nor Stage come close to Second Avenue Deli).

Second Avenue is the best but Katz is also very very good.

I like Stage better than Carnegie.

Walk over the Second Avenue and head south until you get to the 10th Avenue. It's on the east side of the street.

Try the corned beef, kashka varniskas, and the Matzo ball soup.

Don't look for cheese, Second Avenue Deli is a kosher deli.

Second Avenue Deli, Second Avenue and 10th Street.

Closest subways are eastside trains, stopping at 14th or 8th Sts (Astor Place on 6 train)

I've been bugging my husband for the past few weekends to make the 1.5 hour drive into NYC for a pastrami and swiss on Jewish rye from Katz's! Absolutely the best! There are no real delis where we live, and nothing compares to Katz's pastrami.
