I'm sure there are a zillion things to do at night in the city, but I need some suggestions. My family of five (parents and young adult children) will be in the city June 17 - 24th. We have plans to go to a Yankees game and see a Broadway show, but I am looking for other post-dinner ideas...touristy and non-touristy suggestions are ALL appreciated!

The top of the Empire State Building or Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center.

Nothing as gorgeous as the lit up view of Manhattan from the top!

Along the same vein, the Staten Island Ferry for the prettiest view of Lower Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty, and the Brooklyn Bridge lit up at night!

Shakespeare in the Park at the Delacorte Theater is always great. Here's a link to the schedule. Name performers will often appear in productions.

Don't know when the Bryant Park movies start or what's on tap this year, but sitting on the lawn with a few thousand others watching a movie on a nice summer night is a great NYC thing to do.

Personally, my favorite thing on a nice summer's night is an al fresco meal at somewhere like Da Silvano followed by a walk around the Village.

In NYC, dinner is often THE entertainment for the night. There are jazz clubs, comedy clubs, cabarets, off Broadway shows, piano bars, Karaoke. You name it, we've got it.

Explore a couple of different "real" neighborhoods for dinner.

If you go to the village, the upper west side, soho, lower east side etc - you will find lots of inexpensive restaurants, cafes for sitting outdoors afterwards, many shops stay open late (often til 11 or 12) and there's always window shopping.

Also - there is every type of possible muscial venue/event. Check out New York Magazine and Time Out New York web sites a couple of weeks before you come.

We LOVE the Circle Line Harbor Lights cruise and take it nearly every visit during the nice weather. You leave in the daylight, go so close to the Statue of Liberty you can almost reach out and touch it (on the way out and on the way back, when it's all lit up). You enjoy all the bridges, a sunset (if there is one), and coming back in the dark with the lights turned on all over could not be more magical!
