NYC on Mondays

Hi, I'm going to be in NYC July 17-20th. I'm pretty booked up with the typical sight seeing on Saturday and Sunday (hitting most of the tourist hot spots). However, I have all day to walk around by myself on Monday before meeting my boyfriend after work. I know Mondays are the slowest day in NYC, any suggestions on things to do during the day by myself or at night with my guy?

I wouldn't consider Monday's slow in NYC. Just as crowded and lively as any other day, if you are referring to Broadway, well yes, shows are mostly dark on Mondays. You may want to google New York walking tours, which generally meet at a subway station and take in a particular area (lower east side, greenwich village, harlem, etc). Or if you are comfortable, pick an area and explore on your own. downtown comes to mind, you can take the Staten Island ferry each way for a great view of the Statue of Liberty and ellis island and lower Manhattan. all stores will be open if shopping is your thing.

You should go to Ruby Tuesday's restaurant in Times Square and ask for Lucaya to be your server. She is actually a host and narrator of several television documentaries.

Actually, I was doing a bit of fatherly advertising for my daughter. Yes, she is an theater grad and yes she works as a waitress. If she sees this thread she'll kill me.

OK This event happens every Monday Eve, I went on Monday before searching for Manhattanhenge Day II. Unfortunately, the clouds were in the way of the sunset. It was much better day one but....The winebar was excellent and I had a wonderful berry cobbler dessert and my friend Anthony is the DJ for some pretty nice mellow music so if you happen to be in the neighborhood, you could stop by. I was there on the early side.

The only thing that's closed on most Mons. are museums. MOMA is one of the few that's open on Mondays. But things like cruises, walking tours, bus tours etc. all run on Mons. do I'm confused by your request. What would you LIKE to do that you think you can't?

Looking for a place for dinner? Las Halles has 50% off 50 wines on Monday. There are two locations in the City:

There are a lot of cool discounts on goldstar.com including I think some walking tours and many cruises. Cruise is a great thing to do if it's hot. Shopping is also a good activity w/o boyfriend if you're into that.
