NY with kids -- which hotel?

We're going to be in NYC with our kids, 6 and 2. I usually stay at the Regency, we love it. However, for about $50 more a night we can get a second room at the Omni Berkshire. I know nothing about this hotel. Anyone have any feedback to help with this choice? It gets good Fodor's reviews but I would love to hear from anyone with specifics.

Haven't stayed at the Berkshire, but used to go there for "happy hour", it's in a great location, caters to business people and an Omni.

Sign up on the Omni website. You will receive a select guest card. When your card comes, you will also receive a voucher for a complimentary room upgrade and a voucher for 50% off you next weekend stay. I have not stayed at the Omni in New York but Omni Hotels have a good reputation. Enjoy the city.

just a quick note re: Omni discount certificate.
When I got one a few months ago, it specifically excluded New York locations. I don't know if that's typical, but don't count on it being valid...
