Hotels on Plaza in Sonoma?

We are thinking of staying in Sonoma for 3 days. Should we stay on the plaza? I know Eldorado is on the plaza. Thoughts on this hotel?
Any reccommendations?
thank you!!

I was on the plaza last week. There's not much there, frankly, but it is a good location. Check out the Swiss Hotel, which is directly on the plaza. Another option, nearby, is the Trojan Horse Inn (bed & breakfast).

Enjoy!

MacArthur Place is very nice and close to the square. Here's a link:

We stayed at Lodge at Sonoma and liked it but we stayed right off the pool and if you can get a room or cottage there it will feel like you are soemwhere special but if you get a room facing the parking lot or the road it's not as special.

I've always thought the El Dorado looked nice. We've stayed at the Best Western Sonoma Valley Inn, and it was nice, clean, comfortable with a pool and spa, comp breakfast.

My favorite property is the Sonoma Mission Inn, you have to drive a bit to town, but the propety is beautiful. Very spacious grounds, spa, two restaurants, we were truly pampered there. It was fun coming back from dinner (I think it was the General's Daughter) and sitting outside by the beautiful fountains and firepits.

We're headed there next month, can't wait! We will be trying the Harmony Club at the Ledson Hotel and the Farmhouse Inn for dinners. Of course, lunch will be at the girl and the fig. My ressies are already made for all places! ***kim***

Gekko, we've enjoyed a couple of very nice dinners at the Swiss Hotel out on their back patio. Great food, service and ambiance with the outdoor fireplace there. ***kim***

That would be the Inn at Sonoma. I noticed the property when we were town for business last year. ***kim***
