NY Midtown Hotel suggestions for June

My husband & I will be attending a wedding June 18 at the Mandarin Oriental. Their prices are way out of our budget. What hotels are close by that would be less expensive. We will be staying 2 nights, 6/17 & 6/18.
Thanks for any suggestions you can give me.

Try quikbook.com and see what you come up with. I usually get good rates through them for NYC.

Thanks for your reply. I saw the Salisbury Hotel on Quikbook at a decent rate for NY. Is this a nice hotel?

The Salisbury is a great hotel and it is near the Mandarin Oriental. I've done reviews on the Salisbury that you can read if you do a search.

We just spent 11 nights at The Blakely Hotel, 55th and 6th Ave (an easy walk to Columbus Circle). It is a lovely, small, boutique hotel with a great staff. We had a king room with a sitting area and kitchenette (small micro, mini fridge, sink, coffeemaker, & dishes) for $229 + tax through Quickbook. This hotel was formerly the Gorham hotel but has undergone a major renovation. Very tastefully done in clubby rich tones with wood floors and marble bath. I thought the location was excellent with two subway lines nearby and good restuarants within easy walks. I highly recommend La Bonne Soupe - just a block away on 55th for great brunch, lunch or even a light, pre-theater dinner.
