Roosevelt Hotel

Has anyone stayed at the Roosevelt Hotel on Madison Avenue and 45th Street? I have reservations in May, but I don't know much about it regarding locale, cleanliness etc.
Thanks!

The Roosevelt Hotel is located in Midtown Manhattan, next to Grand Central and an easy walk to Fifth Avenue shopping as well as to the Theater District/Times Square. You can get a lot of reviews about the hotel itself by going to www.tripadvisor.com and entering Roosevelt Hotel. Good luck.

It's a nice hotel with a lovely lobby and public areas. It was renovated recently (within the last 5 years). As others have stated, the location is good.

I stayed there in 11/03.

Positives: LOCATION as everyone has mentioned. Public areas and service were better than expected...it's not the 4$ but fine nonetheless.

Negatives: it's OLD. I did appreciate it being grand and historic but there's drawbacks. Small rooms, noisy plumbing, dated hallways, etc. Although somewhat tight-spaced, the rooms were nicely furnished IMO.

Overall, I think the hotel's positives far outweigh its drawbacks and it's generally a terrific value (if you get the reduced rates). For a 3* hotel, I found my stay there very satisfactory.

I've stayed at the Roosevelt twice during the past year and liked it quite a bit. It's a big hotel, hugh lobby, good bar that will give you an honest martini. Location is right in the middle of New York, next to Grand Central Station and walking distance of the theatres. The rooms are small like most New York hotel rooms, but that didn't bother me. The hotel was built back in the 1920's and for a long time was the un-official headquaters for the Republican Party. I think I read somewhere that Teddy Roosevelt himself was there for the grand opening.

Thanks for the insight joemar, do I need to cancel my reservation now? I'm a Democrat.

It was featured in the recent Jennifer Lopez movie, "Maid in Manhattan."
