My husband and I are making our first weekend getaway to Hershey, PA. He is a big hockey fan and we're going there to see the Hershey Bears play. Can anyone recommend other fun things for couples to do in the area?
Also, we are considering staying in the Days Inn near Hershey Park. Anyone know anything about this hotel, good or bad?

You could visit the Hotel Hershey which is a pretty amazing property...go to the spa and get a hot cocoa bath. yum

I've only stayed at The Lodge at Hershey so I can't help you with info about the Days Inn.

There's a wonderful place for breakfast in the town of Hershey called the Hershey Pantry.

I've stayed at Hotel Hershey, which is just amazing. If you cannot afford a room there, I would definitely go for a day -- have a meal in the circular dining room, and get a spa treatment!

when are you going? I also reccomend the hershey pantry, its a cute little place, known for their breakfast, but also have execellent dinner. I would look into the hershey thearter and see if they have any plays. You could goto harrisburg ( a 20 min drive south) check out the capital, city island, herhsye has a history museam, and also zoo america. Lancaster is about a 45 min drive on 283, you can see amish, farmland shopping, some amish famililes have a dinner, where you can eat traditional pa dutch food, made by hand by real amish. there is also a cave in herhsye called indiam echo caverns

Not sure what your budget is, but there is a Hilton Garden Inn in Hershey which is quite nice, probably a cut above the Days Inn. Much more reasonable than the Hotel Hershey, but then again, it isn't the Hotel Hershey.

Try the Warwick Hotel restaurant for diner. Not in Hershey, but it is close by in one of the surrounding towns. Excellent food and service.

If you were considering going to the Hershey spa, book as far in advance as possible! (You can always cancel, but you can't make reservations after they are full!)

i've stayed a the Days Inn and it is just a Days Inn, nothing special, basic in every way. Next trip we still couldn't afford Hershey Lodge so we stayed at the Sheraton in the town 10 min frm Hershey (i am blanking but it's the big town close by). Liked it alot. GREAT huge indoor pool- I mean really big, it's in a huge pavillion and is nicely heated, and big indoor jacuzzi too. People who live there join the club at the hotel to use the pool. There is a river you can walk on, probably too cold now thgough. We enjoyed it very much. Went to Hersheypark and Chocolate World tour (fun little indoor train that goes by scenes on how chocolate is made- like a disney ride. Not much else to do. A friend stayed at same time at the Hershey hotel (not the spectacular one, the more regular one) and it wasn't that great from what I saw.

just to clarify...

The Hotel Hershey is the "spectacular one" and the Hershey Lodge is the not-so-spectacular (although we thought it was more special than your average hotel) ;-) although, my jaw nearly hit the floor when the bartender (male, 40s or early 50s) in the lounge said he didn't know who Joe Paterno (sp?) was when he walked in the door (his son's wedding was held there...).. what a crime!
