Newark International Airport Hotel?

I'll be arriving in February from Europe to NJ International Airport, and I'm looking for a convenient budget hotel (less than $100 per 1 person), which would be very easy to access from the arrival. Any recommendations?

I did a google search on "Newark Airport Hotels" and came up with this:

http://www.newark-airport-hotels.com/

Most of them will have shuttles to/from the airport. Good Luck.

A search for the same text on this forum brings up 18 matches. I commented on Best Western.

I've found under $100 rates on weekends several times at the Hilton (free shuttle)

There is a Marriott at the airport itself. Not sure it would be within your budget. There is a Courtyard about a 10 minute ride away. To the best of my knowledge all the hotels near the airport have a shuttle to the terminals. The website above would be useful as well.

If you give me the date of arrival I can give you specific recommendations.
Even the Marriott is around 100.00 for specific dates in Feb... certainly a LOW season in the area!
Here's a list of possibilities:
HOWARD JOHNSON CLIFTON
HOLIDAY INN TOTOWA
RENAISSANCE MEADOWLANDS
EXTENDEDSTAY MEADOWLANDS
HOLIDAY INN SADDLE BROOK
COURTYARD MEADOWLANDS
QUALITY INN MEADOWLANDS
MARRIOTT SADDLEBROOK
HOMESTEAD MEADOWLANDS
FAIRFIELD MEADOWLANDS
HAMPTON INN CARLSTADT
RESIDENCE INN WEST ORANGE
RADISSON HOTEL SADDLE BROOK
HOLIDAY INN HASBROUCK HEIGHTS
I'm pretty sure most of these will have shuttles.

I've used Priceline for Newark hotels a few time now and usually get the Airport Hilton for $47 or so per night; can you bid from where you are?

I stayed at the Wyndham Newark Airport Hotel for $50. Not only is it nice, it's quite luxurious! Much like hotels I normally pay $200 for. It has a shuttle to/from the terminals.

I see it now on Travelocity for $66.

Most of the hotels that "TxTravelPro" shows in the list are not all that close to the airport and do not have free shuttle service to the airport. Staying close to the airport is not only convenient if you plan to be flying out the next day but also gives you access to the SkyTrain, a quick and easy way to visit Manhattan from the aiport. The Marriott and even the Marriott Courtyard are not likely to be under $100 even before tax - definitely well over $100 or even $200 with tax. If you can access and use Priceline from your country it's the best bet. Stick to 3* or higher and you should easily get a good room adjacent to the airport for $45 to $60.

I don't know if SkyTrain has a website (have you tried Google?), but it's pretty simple. What questions do you have about it?

Actually, it's called the AirTrain - here's the website:

http://www.airtrainnewark.com/airtrainnewark/index.html

Hope this helps,

Yes - the AirTrain. I was thinking of the new train that connects the JFK terminals to the NYC subway system.

AirTrain is $11.25 each way and runs about every twenty minutes or so for most of the day until late at night. Just follow the signs in the Newark air terminal up the escaltors to the terminal monorail system. It will take you to the train terminal - automated machines that take cash or credit cards dispense the tickets. be sure you stay on all the way until the second stop at Penn Station New York - the first stop is Penn Station Newark.

Owen... sorry to disappoint... the Marriott is much less than you think.
As I say in every post, rates depend on the dates. I wish people posting would include the dates so the information would be more precise.
Good catch on the shuttles. I have taken shuttles to quite a few of these properties but now that I look back, it was probably specially arranged.

Here's a sample rate for the Marriott, on Feb 20th:

The rates at Marriott and most hotels vary widely, depending on the day of the week. The price at Marriott for Feb 20 is so low because it is a Friday night. Saturday night is higher, and the weekdays are much higher.
