connecting overnight in frankfurt--should we stay at the airport??
We will be connecting thru Frankfurt from Prague on our way home to Chicago should we stay at the airport or should we go into the city center. We have stayed before at the Marriott. We arrive afternoon on a tuesday and leave early wednesday morning? I am concerned about the expensive cab ride as we are seniors and taking buses etc with luggage is just not feasible. Thanks

I'd suggest staying in a hotel near the airport just so you can get up early and not have to look forward to a ride to the airport.
If you get off the plane, check in and feel like going into the city for dinner, you can do that.
Happy travels,
Jules

Here are my choices for airport hotels:
1. Sheraton: but ONLY if money is no object.Connected to the airport via covered walkway.
2. Steigenberger Airport Hotel about half a mile from the terminals.24 hour free shuttle every 15 minutes.Large hotel hosts a lot of conventions/conferences nice surroundings usually I pay no more than 170E.
3. Airport Intercity Hotel a bit smaller but nonetheless acceptable.Free shuttle runs 4.45am to 12.30 Midnite every 30 minutes rate usually 159E.About a mile away.
Good Luck!

Hi
I've stayed at the Steigenberger Hotel near the airport several times. Their free shuttle and convenience makes up for the cost. There's also the steigenberger Maxx, which is a little further out and less expensive. They also offer the free shuttle to the airport. we've stayed at both and prefer the Steigenberger hotel. They also have a great buffet bkfst.

The Sheraton is conntected to the terminal by a covered walkway and is very convenient. Below the walkway is the train. You can take that to the city center (near the Romer, the Cathedral and their shopping area.) There are restaurants and shops and the river. If you're there early enough there are also museums. We found the train safe.

I went on a 3 week trip to Europe by myself and my last stop was Frankfurt, before heading home to Hawaii. After staying in budget lodgings, I felt I owed it to myself to splurge a little and stay at the Sheraton at the airport. What a great idea! It was worth every penny.
Not only did I catch the train into town to enjoy the sights (by myself!), I enjoyed the comfort of the hotel. And, the next day, it was so unstressful to leisurely roll out of bed and stroll across the bridge to the airport. (The bellman helped me load my luggage onto the cart.)
