Looking for a hotel near the Nice airport: clean and convenient. Only need it for one night to catch an early flight the next day. Not travelling on a tight budget, but don't want to spend a fortune either.

I can understand if you have an early morning flight your concern about staying very near the airport. I cannot help you with a hotel.
I would just like to tell you, in case you change your mind, that last May I stayed with a friend in Beaulieu Sur Mer and I drove her to the airport for a 7:00 am flight and it only took about 25 to 30 minutes to get to the airport.
I am just sending this to give you an idea of travel times to that airport.
It is very small and very easy to get into, especially in early morning.
Just to give you another option.
