Newark Airport to Midtown

I'll be coming in at Newark Airport, first-timer, and was wondering what the best transportation choice would be at night on a weekday to my hotel in midtown.

I was thinking about just taking a shuttle for $17 to my hotel in midtown but i know that there can be quite a wait for it to arrive...plus the various stops it makes until my stop.

Would taking a taxi or car or something else be cheaper, easier or better? How long does it actually take from Newark airport to midtown central park?

How late are you arriving? (Not when is the plane scheduled - but when will it really land - how late is it usually?)

In my experience Newark has cab issues late at night - after 11 or so - and you need to organize a car service.

Don;t know how late the shuttles run - or how often late at night.

After a long day alredy I would definitely do a cab or private car - no patience driving around the city waiting to be dropped off.

A cab/car service will be in the range of $60 or so - but what's a couple of dollars if you're already tired and cranky (me - not necessarily you).

The Airttrain to Penn Station is probably the fastest way. The cost is $11.15. You would need either the subway or a taxi from Penn Station to your destination. Subway would cost $2, cab less than $10. There is also the airport bus which costs around $12. The bus will leave you at the bus terminal, 42nd and 8th Ave. For all transportstion options go to www. panynj.gov/

The train is really fast. Then a quick cab to your hotel.

Don't take the Airtrain unless you want to add an hour of time onto your trip AND when you arrive at Penn Station, you STILL have to organize transportation to your hotel.

I've taken the airtrain on a couple of occaisions and never again.

When I took the train to town, it literally took 20 minutes and a 10 minute cab ride at the most to get to my hotel. I took Supershuttle back to the airport and regretted it.

Travel time on Airtrain/NJ Transit depends on your connection at the station. Once on a NJ Transit train, it's about 15-20 minutes in to NY Penn.
