new york shows
We are first time tourists visiting NY early september for nine days.
Father and son [60&16]...we would like to experience a broadway show ...and have narrowed it down to the following..the lion king, the blue man, monday night magic,[enjoyed david copperfield last vegas visit]..or the quantum eye.
could someone help with opinions on the above shows.thankyou
Rhettski.

As Doug says, all but Lion King are considered off Broadway which is really not the same experience. (smaller theaters, usually smaller casts, much less glitz and closer to a road show production in some cases). Lion King is quite a spectacle and appreciated by most, but it does attract a lot of kids and is never discounted if budget is an issue. I would also seriously consider "In the Heights" which is a terrific show with great dancing and a very "NYC" storyline.
If you like magic, you might also consider Steve Cohen's Chambermagic at the Waldorf. http://www.chambermagic.com/main/#chambermagic Blue Man Group is very popular with teens as is Fuezerbruta, also off Broadway. Look for discounts to many of these on the left column of broadwaybox.com

We would like very much to experience "The man of magic" but we travel light and suits and ties are out of the question,
best Rhettski.
