A friend and I and our daughters, they are in their mid twenties are coming to New York for 5 days in April to sightsee and shop. We have tickets for opera at the Met and for Wicked and also plan on seeing the Natural History Museum, MOMA and the Frick collection.
I would like some suggestions for other must do things and good places to shop for clothes,(Plus size), quilting things and kitchen bits and pieces.
Also for good places to eat near the Met and the Gershwin theatre and maybe post theatre desert as well.
Where would be the best place to buy make up?

It would help to know where you're from. If you're American, some places may be familiar. If you're not, might be more interesting.

The best places are
Bridge Cookware. There is an incredible assortment. A wall of knives and for instance they have 5 or 6 melon ballers. It is stark and for the serious amateur and the professional.

Broadway Panhandler now on 8th street just off Broadway is family owned and for the serious amateur. There are trinkets and silly gadgets and high quality wares.

Upstairs at Zabars-excellent selection at excellent prices. the irony is downstairs there are so many wonderful things to eat that are already prepared.

We are actually coming from the UK, although I lived in New York for a year a long time ago just after university. all the rest are making a first visit. We really want to do and see everything but realise that we will not have enough time!
I could easily I think do a two or three week itinerary but four or five days is more difficult!
