Recently we enjoyed drinks and meals at "theme" restuarants in NO. Ate at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, themed after the movie Forrest Gump, nice family atmosphere. We enjoyed a meal called "bucket of boat trash" this had crawfish, shrimp and fish & chips. Then for a way out experience, Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville was interesting especially if you like JB. Allegator was delish.
Do not waste your time on the Steamboat. It is just an attempt to get you to buy a condo, and costs big$$ for the pleasure.

wonderful inexpensive food at Cafe Masperro, right across from the waterfront in the Quarter.Recommended to me by thre New Orleans nurses. Huge plates of delicious fried oysters, shrimp, etc. And $1 wine and daiquiris Second for Camellia Grill-- good basic food, but best was the waiters behind the counter. Right across the street is a lunch and pastry cafe, can't recall the name, but had WONDERFUL apple tarts.

OK ,the apple tarts are at one branch of La Madeleine; there are a few around the city.
For lunch: Cafe Boucherie on Conti and Chartres. Sandwiches, great coffee, cool (literally) and comfortable atmosphere. There ae tow entrances, one on Conti, one on Chartres.

Yeah Kal and neworleanslady....this may well be a real consideration! Although the lack of good meeting places and libations concerns me! We'll have to think hard on this one!!! Hope your Memorial Day weekend was filled with most excellent memories of all you have been blessed to love!

gyppielou, I was thinking we'd have to make it a GTG weekend because how do you choose where to go!

> "HIT 'EM ALL, HIT 'EM HARD"!!!

We may be looking at the weekend when Da Bears play the Saints...1st Sunday in November maybe?

New Orleans is open in Nov isn't it?

We were at the Jazz Jubilee in Old Sacramento over the weekend. In one of the NOLA type bars, they were taking around Jello shots and Oyster Shooters.
OOOOOOOH LA LAAAAAAAAAA.
