Thank you, Michigandra! For the suggestions (which look very good!) and the heads up on the weather. They were predicting snow here too. But, so far so good. Let's hope it stays that way!

The Detroit Free Press just printed an article today about all the pre- and post-game parties happening downtown this weekend (http://detroit.metromix.com/events/r...346385/content)
Your DH & son may also want to check out the newly renovated Detroit Institute of Arts (i've heard that it is very high tech now)

Thanks, Cali! I know what you mean, my son has been routing for the other Big 10 schools in the NCAA tournament even though he wanted WI to beat them during the regular season! He was even routing (rooting? It's late!) for Perdue, even though they beat WI twice during the season!
He's just so excited about getting to see Wisconsin in Detroit!
Hope all's well with you.

Another recommendation for the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA). Do not miss the Diego Rivera frescoes, they take up an entire room. Very cool. Closed Mon-Tue. www.dia.org

Thanks to you all, my husband and son had a great time in Detroit. Well, not the WI losing part! But they really enjoyed their time there.
And a special thank you to you, Kelliebellie. The hotel worked out very well! They liked the location, they said the people working there were great and, of course, the price was right! Thank you so much for going to so much effort to recommend it. Hope you had a great time in Florida and at opening day!
DH and DS also really appreciated the restaurant recommendations posted here. They ate somewhere in Greektown (they're not Fodorites, didn't get the name) that they really enjoyed. They also ate at La Pita, which they raved about. And Cheli's Chili, which they also really enjoyed.
I think they spent most of their "downtime" checking out other sports venues. But they did take a walk on the grounds of the Henry Ford Museum.
Thank you so much for helping them to make the most of their time in Detroit! You guys are the best!

Cool! I'm glad they had a great time. We are always nervous about visitors getting the wrong impression from Detroit. It is certainly no Chicago, but we love it all the same. I'm glad they didn't stay downtown in the tire-stealing hotel.
