Staybridge Suites in Chattanooga?

From the reviews on tripadvisor.com it looks like people LOVE this hotel. I have a reservation there but I see that it's not in the immediate downtown area but it is convenient to the electric shuttle. I have the option of staying at the Residence Inn which is next to the Aquarium (and more expensive than the Staybridge). Which would you choose? One consideration is that we'll be on the riverboat on New Year's Eve and it looks like the boat dock is walkable from the Residence Inn. Does anyone know if that's true and if it would be safe to do that walk in the middle of the night? I'd prefer not to have to drive that night and the shuttle won't be running that late.

We stayed at the Residence Inn and it was very nice. It was also nice to be so close to everything in the downtown area.

The Staybridge is a new hotel and it looks pretty nice, but the Residence Inn would be more convenient to the riverfront. It is walkable to the dock from the Residence Inn. As with any other city, as long as you are aware of your surroundings you should be okay. There is a Courtyard Marriott across the street from the Residence, and a Hilton Garden Inn 1 block up. These would be good options too. My preference would be to stay in the area closer to the river, but if cost is the driving factor Staybridge would be an acceptable choice. BTW, the nearest shuttle stop from the Staybridge is 2 blocks away (in front of the Marriott).

Thank you so much. I think we'll go with the Residence Inn.

We just stayed at the Staybridge this weekend and loved it. It's only about 6 blocks from Riverfront - totally walkable or there's plenty of parking. Rooms were clean, spacious, nicely decorated...nice sized indoor pool and an ample breakfast bar...great value!
