Monterey Bay Lodging Suggestions
Is there a frugal night's stay in the Monterey Bay area? We're there for one night and would like to spend time on the beach, Aquarium, Carmel activities. Any recommendations?

We stayed at a beautiful Best Western in Capitola and drove to the areas we wanted to visit from there. It's a short drive to Monterey, a good location for a base to go in either direction, and the savings were good.

We loved Capitola, a very quaint little coastal town with much charm. Dinner at the Shadowbrook was very nice here.
You may also want to check out the BestWestern Beach Resort, a nice property right on the beach and reasonably priced. **kim***

My son attends CSU Monterey Bay. We always stay at the Comfort Inn Marina. It is about $100 per night and includes breakfast...yummy fresh made waffles. Nothing fancy, but easy distance to all the sights including some nices beaches.

Asilomar can be a bargain, depending on what is available. Remember it includes a FULL, Complete breakfast in their lovely dining room. And the grounds are great for walking, there is a pool (rarely used) and across from the beach.
My parents always stayed in Seaside to save $$.
