Which Monterey Bay Hotel

I am going to a conference in Monterey at the Embassy Suites, Seaside. I don't mind driving a few minutes to stay somewhere a little nicer. I was considering the Hyatt Regency Monterey - I was told they just put in new carpet and new upscale beds, but that the place is in need of additional upgrades. Has anyone stayed there recently - would like opinion. Thanks.

Was there a reason why you did not want to stay at the Embassy Suites?
Most Embassy Suites I've stayed at have been very nice with a great breakfast to boot.
You can go to Tripadvisor.com to see reviews of hotels in that area.

Why not stay right on the beach at the Monterey Beach Resort? Much nicer location than the Embassy Suites! ***kim***

Thanks, Kim - yes, I considered the Monterey Bay Hotel & Spa - is that the one you are referring to? It is over $300 a night, though. I am going to take my chances at the Hyatt and will report my experience on tripadvisor and fodors.

No, I was referring to the BW Monterey Beach Resort, I just received a postcard from them and the garden rooms are going for $89/night.

I think you are confusing this place with the Montery Plaza Hotel & Spa which we also like, tho quite a bit more pricey.

The BW Beach Resort has a pool, jacuzzi, oceanview lobby with snacks set out each afternoon and and an on-site restaurant that is very good with beautiful views of the ocean from the dining room. Quite nice for a Best Western! ***kim***

The BW Monterey Beach Resort is also an easy walk to, and from ,the Embassy Suites.
