Monterey: Monterey Plaza -or- Seascape Resort?

For an upcoming business/pleasure trip, I have to stay in one of these two hotels. My husband will be joining me for 3 nights of romance, relaxation & sigthseeing.

Any suggestions on which hotel to stay at?

Also, if you had three nights there, what would you do?

Thanks in advance for your input!

My husband and I stayed at the Monterey Plaza Hotel a few weeks ago. I think it's an absolutely sensational hotel! We had a room overlooking the water, which I highly recommend. Having come from the south, neither of us were prepared for a hotel without air conditioning so we relied on opening the balcony doors at night for a good cool breeze and the sounds of waves. It was really very nice.

I agree with the other posters who recommend Monterey Plaza Hotel. Do ask for a bay view room as suggested.

Best Things to do in that area:

Monterey Bay Aquarium

walk the coastal trail near Lovers Point

walk through Point Lobos

drive to Big Sur and eat at either the outdoor Ventana Inn patio or at Nepenthe for great views

drive the 17 Mile Drive through Pebble Beach

Visit Carmel-by -the -Sea (the shops and the beach)

Have fun!

Both the Plaza and the Seascape Resort are wonderful, but it depends what you like. The Monterey Plaza is in a busy commercial area. The Seascape Resort is in a quiet setting, has wonderful beaches where you can walk for hours.
Very romantic.
