Marco Island, FL at Christmas

Heading to Marco to visit parents at Christmas... they are healthy; and also somewhat older; and they go to bed EARLY. We will not have a car that week; and wonder if anyone might be able to suggest some activites near the Marriott (near their condo); that we can safely walk to in the evening; and even during the day; to get out and have some fun. Thank you and happy holidays.

Rent a car or beg your parents to loan you theirs.

Have you been to Marco before? It is not in general a very walkable place.

I would beg your parents for the use of their car, though I recognize from dealing with my inlaws in the past that this can be pretty fraught ("I want you to go outside the museum to the parking lot once an hour and make sure the car is still all right".

Could you rent a car for part of the trip? We always got good deals from Enterprise in Fl, and there is a lot to see out 41 toward Fakhahatchee Strand and the Everglades that you need a car for. But maybe you are under 25, which would make it prohibitive.

There are several restaurants and a movie theater within walking distance of the Marriott. You really do need a car to get to other restaurants and shopping. I have always felt safe walking in Marco anytime of the day or night.

As others have said, you really need a car to get around there.

@Ackislander... your post is spot on! You made me laugh. Yes; have been there before many times but lived in Naples for a bit so would drive over, have dinner, and leave. Different story now.. maybe I will rent a car...

Activities for those without a car on Marco:

Checkers, chess, monopoly, charades, shuffleboard, TV watching, knitting, reading, sleeping, conversation.

Need more? LOL

OMG... can you make me more stressed about this trip???? Already worried about staying with my "set in their way" folks... Oh boy... I just pray the sun shines and this cold front moves out so I can at least relax on the beach without seeing my breath. Walking; I see lots of walking on the horizon.
