Mall of America - Hotels

Has anyone stayed at the Airport Grand Hotel (formerly the Doubletree) recently? Travelocity has a review saying the walls are thin and you can hear everything. Is this true?

Also, has anyone stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott lately? They have a cheaper rate.

Thanks.

sorry I cannot comment on the hotels you mentioned, but I will say that we stayed at the Country Inn and Suites right across from the Mall of America this past summer. It was very nice, and being within walking distance of the mall was wonderful!!

Thanks Mona. I'll check their rates too. I would still love to hear from anyone else that might have stayed at the other two hotels. Thanks.

Deborah, we've enjoyed the Holiday Inn Select (JCT I-494 & 34TH Avenue; Exit 1) and found decent rates there in the past. Here's a site that you can use to make some quick comparisons on rates:

Have fun!

We have stayed at the Grand when it was the Doubletree and we didn't have any complaints. Location is good for MOA and airport. We have also stayed at the Hilton and the Marriott and Amerisuites near MOA. All were okay, however we liked the Marriott the least. We have also stayed at Country Inn and Suites and Embassy Suites in this area and they are great. Have fun. I haven't stayed at the Marriott Courtyard but it looks nice.

Thanks Cali. I called the Bloomington Chamber of Commerce and they said that the Grand is a really nice hotel and they had never heard that complaint. The rate there also includes breakfast and a coupon book worth $9.95 for the mall, so I think I got a good deal. I think I will stick with them.

Wanted to say thanks to Flyboy for the website too. It was really helpful. I booked that Holiday Inn last summer when I was going to go up, but my trip got cancelled. Going this weekend and not renting a car so I want to be close. Not sure if they have a mall shuttle. Thinking of switching back to Courtyard now. Better rates there.
