Hi bns,
Ok, after a little researching I'd recommend you check out http://travel.yahoo.com/p-hotel-391870-hampton_inn-i
Other Gurnee hotels that would be nice are Baymont Inns & Suites, Fairfield Inn Mariott, or Comfort Inn.
These hotels in Gurnee are 3 miles from Waukegan, 40 miles from Milwaukee (Mitchell) Airport.
I wouldn't stay at the Holiday Inn on Green Bay Rd. for location & safety reasons.
I live 15 miles from Gurnee, have not stayed in any of these hotels but know that they are all fairly new. They are adjacent to Gurnee Mills, numerous restaurants, and down the street from Six Flags Great America. It's a very good location.
Are you sure you'll need to stay in Milwaukee? When we fly out of Mitchell Field it's usually a 35 minute ride from Gurnee, which is located right off the I94.
Hope all goes well.

Thanks for telling us about the area where the Holiday Inn is located. Gurnee does sound better. We wanted to spend a couple of nights in Milwaukee just to check out that city since I haven't been there before. But, maybe there is a suburb -- like Gurnee that would better than actually staying in Milwaukee. What do you think?

Sorry bns, I can't answer your Milwaukee question... I would do a search which should pull up some good hotel info.
Also, you may want to start a new thread w/ Milwaukee lodging in the title. Milwaukee in the summer is wonderful.
Enjoy the area.
