Cooperstown - Hall of Fame
My Husband and I want to go to Cooperstown in July for the Hall of Fame Induction. As you might already be saying, seems like the entire town is booked. Does anyone know of a decent place to stay within 30 -45 mins of the town? We will have a car.

Three years ago, my husband and son stayed at the Lake View Motel, just outside of Cooperstown, during a 4th of July holiday. The recommendation came from a poster here named janesch. They liked it well enough. Give it a try.

Utica (my former hometown) is about 45 minutes away from Cooperstown and is a very easy drive. It's a city that's fallen on rought times and is pretty run down, but I've stayed in each of the places listed below and would do so again.
Here's where I'd consider:
Hotel Utica: Beautifully restored hotel in downtown Utica; rundown area around it, but not what I'd consider dangerous.
The Radisson: Nice facility; right down the street from Hotel Utica.
Holiday Inn: Run of the mill hotel. Suburban setting located in the Utica business park.
Ramada Inn in New Hartford: Average place. Location is great for going to Cooperstown because it's right next to Route 5, which is what you'd take to get to Cooperstown.
Rosemont Inn (B&B): Beautiful old house. Just on the outskirts of downtown Utica.
Red Roof Inn: Right off the NYS Thruway. Nothing fancy. Recently renovated and is acceptable as well. Probably the cheapest of the bunch.
Let me know if you have any specific questions.
