Luxury Link?

Has anyone won an auction off of Luxurylink.com? How flexible were the dates available? I'm looking into Maui auctions and would need to book for specific dates (already have airfare) if I won the auction.
Thanks!

Hi Kristin, yes, I've used luxurylink two times for Hawaii. No problems whatsoever and had terrific deals. In Maui won an auction for the Kapalua Bay. We were given the dates we wanted and even the room we requested with some extras like flowers and a HUGE bowl of fresh fruit that lasted us all week. The other auction was for Molokai Ranch in Molokai. Again, no probs booking and great service. Do call the hotel manager before bidding if you need a specific date. Happy bidding!

Actually, you just think you've gotten a good deal. You can do way better by shopping around and through other resources. If you think "flowers" are worth the way extra, go for it!

HMMM I challenge you to find the same rate I got for the Kapalua Bay hotel. 6 nights ocean view with buffet breakfast bowl of fruit & no resort fees for $1400. Please follw up with me when you beat that price.

just remember, when u use luxurylink.com, you can't cancel and get a full refund. Also, if you get to a hotel, and aren't crazy about it, you don't have the option to call the front desk, say you're not satisfied, and check out and go somewhere else (unless you want to pay for 2 hotels in one night)...

Kristin,
We've used luxurylink twice (both times for Caribbean resorts, not Hawaii) and never had any problems as I call the resort in advance to make sure that the dates I want are available. Once you receive the confirmation for your 'winning' bid, you then contact the resort directly to make reservations. As long as you check availability in advance, you should be fine. Of course, before bidding you want to make sure that it's a property you would be happy with.

Hmmm,
Have you actually used luxurylink? If you can find me a $340 a night rate (american plan) at Peter Island Resort in the BVI's through 'other resources', I would love to hear about it. Please share with us.

Thanks a lot for the helpful replies! I'm feeling better about bidding now that I know they are legitimate. I'll be sure to call the hotel to check my dates (have already checked the hotel's online booking tool, and they do have rooms available).

Hey Natalie, hmmmm is right more often than not in this area.
I've looked at many packages on LuxuryLink and it is RARE that you can't get a better price outside LL on the Buy Now deals.
The Auctions, of course, vary a lot from one to another.
And no one should pay rack rate at a Starwood property (like Kapalua) in Hawaii since they have so many promotions like free nights and free rooms with Starwood points etc (nothing to do with Luxury Link).

Ryan,
While I agree with you that the packages available for purchase on luxurylink are not a good deal, I believe Natalie and I were both referring only to their auctions since that's what the original poster asked about.

Auctions and take your best shot auctions are usually good deals but not made to orders. I spend lots of time researching travel and stand by my statement. If you can find a deal to mine at the Kapalua Bay please let me know. I am also a starwood member and the free nights deal does not even compare to the price I paid. Again, if you can beat this please follow up.
