late night san fran photography
hey friends-
i'm gonna be in san fran for one night
next week and i'm planning on staying
up all night taking photos....i fly
out the next morning so i don't
have long...i'm
gonna be just south of chinatown
....if any of my fellow photo
geeks have any advice
about photo ops or places to avoid
i'd be thankful...i won't have a
vehicle so i'd like to not venture
too far away
thank ya kindly

Views of the GGB from Baker Beach are nice, but at night, not too sure - I'm not not a local. There's a nice view from a not so well known lookout in the Sunset at the end of 14th Street. Ask on photo.net. You'll get more informed responses.

I second the photo.net recommendation. Also take a look at www.danheller.com. He is a pro travel photographer and has supposedly the largest travel photography site on the Web. He lives in that area you are visiting. Try e-mailing him.

If there is no fog, the view of the bay and GGB from the Marin Headlands is breathtaking. We were there 7 years ago for our honeymoon and experienced such a night; the area was full of people either taking their own photos or having professional photography done. Full moon and the lights of the city--beautiful!
