San Francisco - Late night snack with drinks and music on a Sat night

Happy new year Fodorites! 21 y.o. DS and I will be heading to the city fo play for a few days, and DH will join us late on a Saturday night, arriving in the city around 10:30. Can you suggest a place for us to go that night where DH can get a bite to eat, and we can all enjoy a few drinks, perhaps with some music/entertainment? We are staying in the Cow Hollow/Marina area, but are willing to go anywehre in the city.

Thanks!

We did a late night at Top of the Mark at the Mark Hopkins. It was really nice:

San Francisco is a great town in most respects but as far as food+live music+late night, umm, not so much. 10:30 p.m. on a Saturday night is not late at all in a city like New York, for example, but in sleepy little SF it is. It's always been that way -- a little provincial in that respect.

Anyway, some places you might try are Cafe du Nord, Yoshi's, Bix or Cafe Claude. Just search for their websites on google or on yelp to see reviews. I think Cafe du Nord's kitchen serves until 11p.m on Saturdays, the others stop serving earlier, like 9 - 10:30, I think. Reservations would be advised at all these places.

You and your son could go to one of the venues and eat and hang out and have your husband meet you there, ordering/holding something for him to nosh when he arrives, and before food stops being served.

NOPA comes to mind since it serves dinner until 1 am; or Oola that serves until 1 am or midnight (depending on the day); or Globe, which used to be the late night dining choice for chefs before NOPA. A newer place we went to was Heaven's Dog (late night Chinese).

Happy Saturday evening everyone. I want to report back that we have settled on Bix. I know we're in for a nice evening.

Well, the best laid plans...DH's flight was quite delayed, and he didn't arrive in the city until midnight. Knowing this, DS and I ate at Plouf, which was EXCELLENT (oysters rockefeller, pacific sea bass over risotto and salmon), and we met DH at Zuni Cafe at midnight so he could eat (artichoke soup, pork chop, cheese course). It was a nice evening, though not as we had planned.

Thanks, Deb! It's nice to have some time together in the city, just the 3 of us.
