Late March AZ trip...

Trying to plan a last minute trip for our 10th anniverary. Haven't spent too much time in AZ, haven't seen the Grand Canyon. El Tovar is booked. Husband likes golf, probably the most we could have is 4 nights. Since it's our 10th we'd like to have a nice place(s), etc. Could we do Grand Canyon flying into Vegas then drive south and fly out of Phoenix? Thoughts? If anyone has another suggestion for late March that's not too hard to get to from Raleigh, we're open to it....

Try getting round trip tickets into/out of Phoenix and renting a car. Check the availability of lodging in Tusayan, AZ for the dates you have in mind. It is nicer to stay inside the Grand Canyon National Park, but if that option is closed to you, you have to make choices. Tusayan is only about 10 miles from the south rim.

Inside the Park, did you ask about the Bright Angel cabins? I'm sure they're booked, too, but the El Tovar isn't the only good lodging at the GC. And there are last-minute cancellations to look for...

Does it have to be late March? We have a romm at El Tovar we are going to be releasing (cancelling), April 8 and 9. I could post a notice here so you can pick it up.

Sedona would be an option; you can day-trip to Grand Canyon from there. There are some pretty upscale places there - the forum search could bring up some threads.
