Hi all-
We are planning a family trip with our 2 kids (ages 7 and 3) to arizona in late march. We are thinking 1 night in phoenix, 1 night in sedona, 1 night in flagstaff, and 2 nights in scottsdale. Need help with itinerary planning on what to see with 2 young children. We have some flexibility in how we schedule our nights so if its recommended that we spend more time in sedona and less time in scottsdale, that would be helpful as well. thanks!!

If you are planning on going to Grand Canyon, I would suggest that you stay at one of the lodges or hotel in Grand Canyon Village. You should have no trouble getting lodging in March. The nicest is the hotel elTovar right on the rim. Thunderbird, and Kachina are like motels, and Bright Angel has a lodge and cabins also on/near the rim. Yavapai and Maswick are motel style back a short way from the rim.

Personally I would spend one night in Grand Canyon and more time in Sedona than Scotsdale.

I have never been to Scottsdale, so can't comment. Depending when you get into Phoenix, I would skip it and head straight to Sedona. Spend at least 2 nights. Then spend a night at the Grand Canyon, in the park, ot right outside at Tusayan. Keep checking daily, the park reservations for cancellations.

Scottsdale is not particulary special, except for visiting Taliesin West; the house /school of the architect Frank Lloyd Wright. It's more than worth the trip. But with kids? Sedona is very nice. Lots of wonderful red rocks... Don't miss Tlaquepaque, the arts and crafts village. Grand Canyon: we spent 2 nights in order to have one full day around the canyon. Start with the Imax movie about the history of the GC at the visitor center in Tusayan and then proceed to the real scenery. Have a great trip!

Just a note: I once drove north out of Sedona in late March and hit one of the worst blizzards I've ever experienced. The weather north of Scottsdale that time of year can be iffy.

Offhand, I can't think of any kid-centric activities in the area, but maybe others can.
