las vegas hilton
Hi - searched other postings first but not too much on the Las Vegas Hilton.
Is this a decent place to stay? I know it's not on the strip, but am willing to walk/drive. I am taking my sister for her 1st trip and want it to be memorable, but in a good way.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

it is quite a way from the strip....unless you are using your points I`d stay on the strip..there is more than enough walking to do there...you can`t walk to the strip..you would need a car to see te strip...Hilton is down close to town and the opposite end from all the action..it`s next to the Convention center...it`s decent...can you use your points at any other hotels(if that`s why your staying there)?.....

The Hilton is a very close walk to the strip. It's mostly known as a convention hotel. It isn't a theme hotel like some of the others on the strip. It's a decent place to stay. The hotel is very nice. It just depends on if you want to stay in a theme hotel like most on the strip or a convention hotel like you would find in almost any other city.

Hi,
I stayed there last year. It is a fine hotel. The only theme i around the star trek:the experience with a spaceport themed casino and Quarks Bar.
Rooms are nice and comfortable. The pool itself is a bit small for the size of the hotel. You can walk to the Strip ( 10minute walk to the Stardust/Riviera corner) but a good 30 minutes to say the Treasure Island/Venetian.In the heat it can get hot walking so put on your hat/sunscreen and carry water with you.
You can check in at the airport (Park Place Entertainment check in) and can earn HHonors points.
For a better stay shop around the hotel websites on the internet and sign up to their guestbooks and you will get some offers. For the cheapest rates try to avoid the weekend.
Regards
Gregory

We stayed at the Hilton Christmas before last and it was a great deal, a fine room, and we liked the idea of being between downtown and the strip, since we taxied everywhere. It was more economical. Ask for a corner room, the views are wonderful. Hope you have fun !!

I`d try expedia.com~orbitz.com and travelocity.com for some prices and the ck some hotel websites for prices and then call the Las Vegas hotel800 #`s....ask for any specials they might be putting on plus AAA or AARP dicounts and Manager specials..Bally`s and Flamingo usuall have some good prices..and sign p for some hotel websites...they always run specials..it is HOT walking that strip so I`d stay centally located..

Not sure what rate you are getting at the Hilton but I recently stayed at Mandalay Bay (great room with wonderful marble bathrooms) for $89 per night and my husband recently stayed at Luxor for $69 per night. I booked a coworker at Mirage for $79 per night. The rates are reasonable if there are no large conventions in the area. I've stayed at MGM three times and felt their rooms were nice.
