Convenient and inexpensive hotel close to convention center in Vegas?

I am not planning on renting a car so would like any suggestions for a hotel convenient to the convention center and reasonably priced.

I was thinking since I am not there on vacation and will be at the covention center so much of my stay, that it really isn't worth spending more money to stay at one of the big, wonderful hotels. I will be there mid October. Thanks

Well, you know, those big hotels can be pretty cheap. We stayed at Excalibur for 49 a night two years ago, and the Luxor for 79 a night. Don't be afraid to call up and ask.

The LV Hilton is right at the convention center and great rates are often available (perhaps not however, if a major event is going on). The Riviera or Sahara are just down the block and usually offering reasonable rates. Of the three, surveys consistently rate the Hilton above the other two. Being familiar with all three, I would recommend (all things being equal) the Hilton.

Does anyone know anything about the Marriott Courtyard that is supposedly across from the convention center?

I wouldnt use proximity to the convention center as a guidline for a place to stay in Vegas. Go to Vegas and experience the Strip and Downtown. You are a relatively short cab ride there from anyplace on the strip.

I have been in Vegas for two different conventions and have stayed downtown(Golden Nugget) and on the strip(Alladin) and had manageable cab rides to the convention center from both places.

Listen to speedo, he's got the city down. The Hilton really would be your best value if you want to be close to the convention center. The Marriott Courtyard is much newer and it is right across the street but since the Hilton is a casino hotel, you still might get a little better deal there! Check both; either way, you'll only be a short cab ride from the strip (actually walking distance but a bit of a walk if you don't enjoy walking!).

My husband just got back from a stay at the LV Hilton. He was there 2 nights and only paid $49.00 a night!! I don't know if it was just luck or what, but that was a great rate. It was booked by his secretary calling the hotel directly. Good luck to you.

If you're there for a whole week, there is a Budget Suites nearby. www.budgetsuites.com

If you don't mind a nice walk, The Stardust, Riviera, Sahara, Frontier, and the Somerset Motel are all within a half mile or so.

Al,
There is 3 Marriott properties right across the street from the LVCC. Marriot Suites, Residence Inn, and a Courtyard. All are good. The Marriott suites has a restaurant and is a nice hotel, reasonable rates. Depends if there are any bigg conventions at the LVCC. check Marriotts web page.

I've stayed at the Mariott Courtyard. Clean, big rooms, good pool area, nice grounds...our room patio had acess to the pool. Only downside is no gambling or bars on site...under $10 cab to the strip though.
