Large Party Dinner Accomodations

Looking to do a dinner in NYC (preferably midtown area or surrounding). Need to accomodate 75 people and would prefer a private dining area. Food should be exceptional. Any ideas???

Tavern on the GReen - exceptional setting in Central Park. Private rooms are available.
Food not exceptional but more than adequate. Was at a luncheon for 200 yesterday. Filet Mignon was main course -was quite good. ;lace is expensive.

Usually reco against OG since their food is quite poor for the average diner. But for groups its not so bad - since group food anywhere is rarely up to what you would expect at a quality restaurant.

Try Beacon - has a great private room that can accomodate 75, and wonderful, New American wood-fired cuisine, excellent service staff. 25 W. 56th (between 5th and 6th). Park Avenue Cafe, "21", Ocean and Town all have private rooms, but I'm unsure of size. Of course, a private room in midtown will have a higher per person cost than downtown - you don't say what your budget range or if it's lunch or dinner . . good luck!
