Lake Powell Resort
Hi,
Looking for feedback on this resort and whether it is worth the extra $$ to upgrade to a Deluxe Lakeview room.
Or would you stay at a hotel in Page? We will only be there one night and are planning on taking a lake tour...
thanks,

We stayed there in August 2007. The rooms were very basic, and we had one with a nice lake view. Not really worth the extra $$$.
I guess it really depends on your budget and likes. I would stay in Page if the price is better.
If you check back far enough, I did a trip report I think. I'll see if I can find it.

Thanks for your reply DebitNM. I tried to find your trip report but could not find it... Price is definately better to stay at Marriott but the views look really nice from Lake Powell Resort...
Anyone else have an opinions on Lake Powell Resort vs. Courtyard Marriott?

It's been a few years but I was very disappointed with the Lake Powell resort when I was there. I found it to be one of those places that looks much nicer on the website than in reality. I haven't stayed at the Courtyard Marriott but would be inclined to pick that choice.

I couldn't find my report either, sorry. Since you are only going to be there one night, I would go with the Courtyard. You will only be in the room a fairly short time -4 pm until what 9 am?- and it will be dark most of the time and you'll be asleep. Enjoy the view while you are on the lake. Which tour are you taking?

I think I will take your advice and stay at the Marriott. The reviews are not very good of the Lake Powell Resort on TA and at $240.00/night I would like to see better reviews.
We are either going to do the Navajo Tapestry or Antelope Canyon tour. In the summer there is an evening (sunset) Antelope Canyon tour, so we thought that might be nice. Any feedback on either of these tours?

I have only done the Antelope Canyon tour but remember hearing the light shining into the canyon is supposed to be best mid-day. You might want to research this a bit further as it might be hard to see the beautiful formations at sunset.
I thoroughly enjoyed visiting Antelope Canyon and would highly recommend you see it -- one of the highlights of our trip.

Thanks... we do plan on doing the (land)Antelope Canyon Tour in the afternoon. The (water) Antelope Canyon Tour is the one I refer to above. It goes out by boat and in the summer they have an early evening tour for 2 hours I think...
My DH prefers LPR since it is right on the water and he likes that the pool is right on the water and we figure our daughters will want to spend the afternoon at the pool.
Thanks again for everyone's feedback.

Just returned and wanted to post our experience here. It was fine for the 2 nights we were there and for our needs. We really wanted our first day of vacation to just relax by a pool, so that is what we did. The pool area was very nice and not too crowded while we used it, however later afernoon/early evenings it did get very crowded. This hotel is used by a lot of European tour groups as well. The location is perfect for enjoying the lake and the views of the lake. We were in a deluxe lakeside room, it was very small and not too "deluxe", the rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable but the room looked "well used". We ate dinner in the Rainbow room and I did enjoy my dinner but it was very overpriced but the view was nice. It is a long distance just to get from the rooms back to the main highway, so you may want to consider that. If we were to return to Lake Powell and were doing things on the lake, I would stay here again, however if we were coming to Page to tour Antelope Canyon or the float trip I would probably stay at The Courtyard.
