Would like to know of a family friendly lake side resort for a couple of days. Would like the resort to have a playground and air conditioned cabins.

Would also like it to be fairly close to the Dells for a day to the slides!

There is no such thing that I am aware of very close to the Dells. WI Dells is built around the WI river which has some resorts on it but nothing lakeside. You could consider The Castle Rock Lake (which is a large impoundment of the WI river) area just to the North. This part of WI is not known for it's family style lakeside resorts like the Northern part of WI is. There is a time share that I believe rents weekly called Christmas Mountain but they are not on a lake.

There certainly are lake side accomodations very close to the Dells. Check out Lake Delton. It is within a mile of two of the Dells and has plenty of accomodations that I think would suit you. I haven't been there myself in years but I used to stay at a very nice Lake Delton resort. You can find quiet surroundings w/in just a few miles of the dells.

Lake Delton is not my kind of place but it may be just right for what you are looking for.
