Dallas hotels--Hyatt or Hotel Lawrence?

We are looking for a hotel close to the Dallas convention center. The Hyatt and the Hotel Lawrence seem to be closest and on the light rail. The Hyatt is a little more expensive, and as this is a booster club paying for it, we are trying to minimize cost. However, there will also be 4 teenagers in a room, meaning that a bigger room and bathroom will trump a less expensive place. Does anyone have any info on size of the rooms at these two hotels? Or any other info that could sway the decision? I know that breakfast is included at the Hotel Lawrence--is it good or just an ok meal?

I am sorry that I am not familiar with the Hotel Lawrence. Both hotels are very convenient to the convention center. Let me throw out another option to consider if those two hotels don't work out. If you want to stay near the DART rail line you could also stay up north of downtown across from Northpark Shopping Center. There is a Bradford Homesuites: 8221 North Central Expressway (at Caruth Haven)
Dallas, TX 75225
Phone: 214-696-1555 / Fax: 214-696-1550
You can get to the DART station at Park Lane by just walking over to Northpark Shopping Center where there is a shuttle bus that will take you to the DART station. Also the hotel is right next to a strip shopping center called Lincoln Park. There are two restaurants there Blue Mesa and The Cheesecake Factory. Also there is a Tom Thumb grocery store if you want to pick up groceries there. At Northpark which you could walk over to from the Bradford there are also more restaurants..Maggiano's (Italian), La Madeleine, Corner Bakery, PF Chang (asian), McCormick and Schmicks just to name a few..plus if you want to shop while in Dallas Northpark has great shopping.
I know that this does not fit your criteria for being close the convention center but I was thinking of what you are going to be doing after the convention is through. Downtown Dallas gets pretty empty at night. Also here is the website for DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) it covers buses as well as light rail..www.dart.org. The Bradford Suites is closest to the Park Lane station. By the way if you do rent a car you can park over at the Park Lane station free.
Whatever you decide I hope you enjoy your time in Dallas.

Caribdvr.....This is a comparison like David vs Goliath...I have had drinks at the Hotel Lawrence...very very intimate boutique hotel built in 1925.I think just over 100 rooms and I think we were told all rooms have one queen bed."Charming" for sure. But I'm not sure you could even fit 3 people in a room! On the other hand, the Hyatt Regency is like 28 stories high with over 1,000 rooms. The rooms including bathrooms were renovated late last year.At the Hyatt there is a $25 per extra person charge so you might want to investigate that.If you are getting a group/convention rate, that extra fee might be waived. If you are going during the warmer months, there is an outdoor pool. Here is the website for the Lawrence.....www.hotellawrencedallas.com..I did not see the breakfast buffet but it is listed as "continental".I hope this helps and best of luck!

Hopefully the Bradford has a shuttle to the North Park mall. You would NOT want to be a pedestrian and try to cross Northwest Highway! That is a very busy road, especially at the Caruth Haven intersection. I would NOT recommend walking there!

Thanks for the great responses! I hadn't even noticed that the Hotel Lawrence has only one bed--after doing a search, you need the junior suites to have 4 in a room, and then two people are on sofa beds. And any hotel near PF Chang's is a winner!
