keys weather in July/August

Sorry if this is repetitive, but I'd like to know if I can expect much rain in the Keys in July or August. We'll probably go at the end of July. A little rain is OK; but I want some sunshine and clear skies if I'm going to have to bear the heat and hunidity! (Better for swimming/snorkeling!)Thanks for your help!

It is the rainy season during that time so it is a good bet you will be in for some rain.

The weather can change on a dime in the tropics. The hurrican season starts in June and runs for several months. Obviously, any disturbance at sea can change the weather on land and there's no real way to predict this.

It's not unusual to have a sunny day and early afternoon only to get late afternoon thunderstorms, which then pass for a delightful evening.
I used to go to the Keys the first week of every August and it rarely rained out the entire trip. I remember far more sunny days.

Thanks to all. Just wondering if this would be a bad time to go then? (In general, I know no one can predict what the weather will be like.) Any other opinions out there? I am getting down to the wire on trip planning!

We went to the Keys at the end of July last year and we did not have any rain. However, we went to Naples after that where it rained almost every day but didn't last long.

It might be a bad time to go if you are looking to avoid rain. It is storm season there.
