Was I crazy to schedule a vacation in August?
Hi -- Based on our schedules, I planned a getaway to Puerto Rico in mid-August, not realizing that is hurricane season. Have any of you gone there in August? Unless there is a major storm is the weather okay?
Thanks for your input.

Provided there is not a tropical system near or over the island the weather will be HOT and it will be humid - there will be a chance of the odd shower but these tend to be over fairly quickly. Average Temps during the year do not vary much but june - sept sees the higher humidities

I go to Puerto Rico every year in the summer - either July or August. The weather is fine (hot and humid). The chances of a hurricane or tropical storm occurring the 4 or 5 days you will be there are remote but possible. Typical weather would include showers at some point in the day or night but usually not a washout.

On line weather forecasts ALWAYS, I repeat, ALWAYS predict rain. What they don't tell you is the rain is often in the form of very brief and very widely scattered showers lasting minutes rather than hours. It's not unusual for it to rain in one area and there be bright sun 1/4 mile away. It's the tropics and it will rain somewhere on the island for some time every day.
