Key West Hotel in January

Hi - looking to plan a quick 40th bday girls trip for my sister to Key West and having trouble w/ hotels. I'd like to stay under $350 but it's looking like I may need to go a *tad* higher. I've searched the forums most recent is from last year - I have it narrowed down to Hyatt, Pier House, Casa Marina or Island City? I do see some pretty good rates for Double Tree, Parrot Key or Key Lime Inn too though too...? We'll be there 4 days/3 nights, driving from Miami early Saturday and the flying back out of Key West on Tues. Also need recs for celebration dinner on Monday night! Thanks!

All the ones you mentioned are large hotels, except for the Island City...I have stayed there and was very pleased. It will give you more of a "true Key West" experience.

Are you going on Wine and food fest weekend? Nice time that weekend. Last weekend of Jan. A new place should be open soon, Backspace Bar, they took over Finnegans and are doing a total remodel. They have a place in New Orleans so this a sister bar. Should be good.

The real character of Key West is not in the big resort hotels... Consider www.historickeywestinns.com

All are in Old Town, all are small inns within walking distance of everything, and rates are often better... Key West is one place that where you stay matters....

For your party dinner, Louie's Backyard is the old reliable, Marquesa has great food and a busier feel, but you also might consider a drag show, some Cuban food and bar hopping down Duval... Have fun

Gary nails it: the real character of Key West is not in the big resort hotels.

Dukey nails it: it may be too late.

Stayed at the Casa Marina last year. The room did not live up to the Waldorf reputation, nor price. Lovely amenities though.

Check kayak.com for your dates to see what choices (if any) you have.

We are in for four nights during the wine and food fest. Not super impressed with the events this year though. Did you get a place to stay?
