Kauai car rental May
Anyone heard of this company or done business with them...CARCHEAP8. Looking for a reasonable rate for 11 days on Kauai. They quoted $373.... Costco $500. ..... Discount Hawaii was $466 ( they included extra driver for free). Have never had problems with Costco and they do include the extra driver which I believe is $10.00 a day in Hawaii which is why I rent from them but $373 (that included all charges but didn't say if it included extra driver) is a huge savings. Would hate to get there and find them bogus or out of cars, ......Any help?

Never heard of them but if it is on the up and up WOW!
We went with Costco for the first time this past Jan instead of Hotwire or P'line. We hit them at the right time because the price was amazing and no addtl driver charge.
Please keep us posted if you use them.
Mucho mahalos!

We go to Kauai every year. After many years of trial and error, we have settled on using Hertz consistently. Cheryl is a Hertz Gold member (so there is never an extra charge for another driver). We never take the rental agency's insurance, preferring to use the insurance we get with our credit card.
If you call or check online for prices, you'll find that they vary considerably. But it doesn't hurt to make a (cancellable) reservation and keep checking prices.
We once used hotwire to get a car rental on Kauai and we said never again. The first car we were given and a slow leak in one tire. They opted to change out the car for us. The next 6-8 cars we were given reeked of cigarette smoke, so much so we could not stand to be in the car. The rental agency insisted that they didn't allow smoking in their cars. Obviously not true. Eventually, they gave us a Cadillac which did not smell of cigarette smoke - but of course, the car was huge and ate a lot of gas. We wasted much of a day driving back and forth to the airport switching cars (we only drove away in one of the smokey cars, but still fit was such a waste of time). We decided that we'd rather get a working car and no hassle even if it cost a bit more.

Kai, it was long enough ago, that I can't remember which rental company it was. I think it was Enterprise, but Cheryl says no.
I'm glad to hear that you have had god luck with Hotwire, but for us, they had their chance and blew it.

Keep checking back with Costco. I've had instances when I've rebooked my Costco car rental multiple times and wound up saving big bucks from what the initial price.
I always check Discount Hawaii and in every instance, by the time my trip came around Costco beat their price.
PS. I've never had a problem with Hotwire, either. I think "Hotwire" is not the issue, but the particular rental car company you got. I've gotten rentals through many different companies, including Hertz. They were all fine. But I understand not sticking your hand back on the stove after getting burned.

Thx Kathie....We did get a bit of a bummer from Hotwire once and it may have been Enterprise or their other Co they own over there. There cars were "off campus" about a 5 min drive.
Rented a funky Chevy HR. After 2 days noticed a funkier smell. Opened up the back luggage area and it looked like the prior renter went fishing and threw his fish back there! LOL
Fish goo.....yuck!
Exchanged it no problem.
Ditto Songdoc on checking back with Costco. When we booked that "WOW" deal, I kept checking back to see if it would go down, it kept going up! Great deal.
