Is there storage for bags in Pompeii?
Hi
I will be travelling from Rome to Atrani and would like to stop off and see Pompeii and Climb Mt Vesuvius, however I will have my travel backpack with me. Does anyone know if there is somewhere to leave our packs.
Also is it recommended to see the Museo Archeologico Nazionale in Naples which houses most of the finds of Pompeii before seeing Pompeii?
Thanks

Molly,
You'll get more answers if you post this on the Europe board.
I highly recommend the archeologico museo in naples. Be warned though, that their schedule for different exhibits is quite erratic.
I don't know if the train station in Pompeii has luggage drop facilities.

The museum in Naples is very much worth a visit. I was especially impressed by the mosaics and by the statuary of heroic size.
There must be a place to check luggage in Pompeii (train station?); exactly where is usually explained in Lonely Planet. When worse comes to worse, I get a doorman at any hotel to store my luggage--which they are happy to do for a tip.

Go to the Europe board, highlight "Italy" and enter search words "Pompeii" and "luggage." You will see several threads that should be helpful to you. (yes, there are several options for bag check at Pompeii.)
