Is there a sing along piano bar in NYC?

Yes, you are quite confused.
I go to Brandy's about once a month and have been a "regular" since 1998 and it certainly is not a "mostly gay crowd." It's mostly a straight, white, Upper East Side crowd -- bachelorette parties too.
I know at least two of the performers are gay, but to call it a "gay bar" like many others in New York City is simply wrong.
If a person is "not comfortable being around a mainly gay crowd," that's ridiculous, but that person will be perfectly comfortable at Brandy's.

Gekko, my "confused" commment referred to your seemingly suggesting that no gay bar could possibly be on the upper east side -- quite a laughable post -- or was your post meant to be funny? I didn't know they had put in a moat to prevent gays from entering the hallowed ground of the UES.
But I'm not the one who is confused about Brandy's -- blame all the guide books and websites for gay bars if you want. If you read my comments above, you'll see that I have been to Brandy's also and I even said I didn't think it was at all gay (the night we were there). But since several guide books refer to it as "primarily gay" and it is listed as a gay establishment in MOST gay guides, it seems only fair to tell someone who has clearly indicated they don't want to go to a primarily gay place that it could be a possibility.
Sorry if that upsets you. I agree that it is ridiculous to be uncomfortable at a primarily or even semi gay bar, but not every one may be as open minded as you or I.
As for bachelorette parties, you do know the number one place in NYC for bachelorette parties is the drag place -- Lucky Cheng's -- so I'm not sure what your point is there? Some straights would be very uncomfortable there too.
