I'll be going to the theater in Chelsea with a group of friends Saturday night. Any ideas for a place we can have some drinks and maybe hear some jazz after the theater where a group of middle aged folks won't feel out of place?

Sorry I didn't see this post earlier Nikki. If you're still out there, Blue Water Grill at Union Square has a jazz room downstairs as does Blue Smoke (27th betw Lex & Park). Also have a look at this website which lists a few places IN Chelsea I don't know including a restaurant called Porters which may have a bar

Porters is actually a pretty good steak restaurant that has a nice lounge/bar area and live music. it's on 7th Avenue and 22nd street, I think. A little bit of a more grown-up scene. There's also a new place in the east village called Agozar that has latin music and jazz. maybe do a search on www.nycitysearch.com or www.nymetro.com

Thanks for the great ideas. Love the gothamjazz website. A place called Kavehaz on 26th Street caught my eye, anyone have any experience there?
