Hyatt Kauai - Renovated Rooms?

Hello, I am thinking of booking a family vacation at the Hyatt in Kauai. We have been there once before (2000) and loved it, but the rooms were definitely ordinary at best and worn/old at worst. Can anyone who has recently been there confirm that all of the rooms have been renovated? Are they now mildew and dirt free? Is the quality of the rooms now more in sync with an upscale hotel? Thanks for any opinions.

My family will be staying there in June. I too would like to hear from someone who's been there recently. Tripadvisor.com has some recent reviews but I'm not sure they specifically address the conditions of the rooms. The grounds sound heavenly so I'm going to take a chance!

Isn't there anyone out there who has stayed in one of the renovated Hyatt rooms?

I have only stayed at the Hyatt once, about a month ago, so I cannot do a before and after comparison. But I can say that I was not very impressed with my room. The bathroom especially is very average (not fancy at all) with a dirty looking shower/bathtub combination(grimy!), shower curtain (I hate curtains!), and floor. Maybe it is just the color of the tiles but it looked unclean to me. Very unpleasant. The rest of the room was nothing spectacular but we stayed at the Princeville and 4Seasons Maui just before the Hyatt so we were spoiled.

I stayed at the Hyatt this summer and they were still in the process of doing the rooms. Our room was not one of the redone rooms and I in no way would characterize it as "dirty". It was nothing special...a hotel room with some Hawaiian accents and prints, but it was quite acceptable. We did have a great view of the ocean, they upgraded us for no charge. Our bathroom was quite spacious. My expectations were such that I was not expecting a "luxury" room, so it was not aproblem with me. The room is only a part of the equation for me anyway. I would not hesitate to stay there again with or without a rendone room.

I also am booked at this hotel this summer (club level) and would love to hear more from others who have stayed here recently. The room rates are high enough that I sure hope the rooms are pretty nice. (But yes I realize the room rates are also paying for the wonderful hotel grounds and, on club level, the breakfast and other amenities....) It's not too late to change my reservation if warranted, though I don't have a compelling alternative in mind.

Thank you very much Ashley24 and Iamq. It sounds like the rooms are still typical American Hotel, but perhaps they will be cleaner and mildew free!

The shower head was carroded (sp?)with black stuff and the floors and shower tiles were a spotty dirt color as if they were trying to hide dirt. It was not a nice bathroom. The rest of the room was comparable to a holiday inn. The bedspreads looked new. The grounds were amazing. I think the prices should be more in the high 200's to mid 300's based on the nice property but very mediocre rooms. I guess when you pay 500.00 for a room, you expect more!
